STG International

Our mission is to provide technical, financial and intellectual support, assistance, and training to projects and organizations focused on bringing sustainable energy technologies to communities across the developing world. Critically, access to an affordable, distributed, renewable form of energy generation can improve productivity and quality of life in rural villages, clinics, schools, and organizations without increasing their carbon footprints. We are focused on the development of a solar technology that can be locally customized, manufactured, and distributed to local economies and provide local jobs while extending energy access beyond the traditional electricity grid.

Mission

Our mission is to provide technical, financial and intellectual support, assistance, and training to projects and organizations focused on bringing sustainable energy technologies to communities across the developing world. Critically, access to an affordable, distributed, renewable form of energy generation can improve productivity and quality of life in rural villages, clinics, schools, and organizations without increasing their carbon footprints. We are focused on the development of a solar technology that can be locally customized, manufactured, and distributed to local economies and provide local jobs while extending energy access beyond the traditional electricity grid.

Programs

(1) Affordable locally-manufactured solar energy for health clinics in Lesotho: In partnership with the Government of Lesotho's Appropriate Technology Services and Ministry of Health, we are installing STG's novel Solar ORC technology at rural health clinics in Lesotho to improve quality of health services provided to villages beyond the electrical grid. (2) Technology transfer, training, and education: STG is currently implementing a UNDP SGP-funded project with partners in Lesotho, including the Government of Lesotho, the National University of Lesotho, and locally-administered STG Lesotho, to develop and implement a full-scale educational curriculum for partners that covers both academic and practical aspects of solar energy manufacture and installation. (3) Domestic technology development and education: STG continues to pioneer improvements to the Solar ORC technology for longer lifetime, reduced cost, higher efficiency, and easier manufacture; this work provides international partners with a better product for installation at rural health and educational facilities and reduces the manufacturing footprint of the technology itself. STG has partnered with US universities, including Eckerd College and MIT, to provide educational opportunities - through the classroom and internships - for undergraduates as well as outreach programs to the public. (4) Larger-scale Solar ORC for India: STG has partnered with MIT, NREL, and the Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore) to provide technology transfer and training to Indian partners, with the end goal of supporting larger scale Solar ORC installations in India.
