Programs

IkamvaYouth provides homework sessions assistance during the week as well as tutoring on Saturday mornings. Learners and volunteers work in small groups (ideally not exceeding a ratio of 1:5) on the material that learners have brought to the session (sections of the syllabus with which they're struggling, past tests and exam papers, homework assignments, etc.). Everyone works together, and ensures that the work is understood by every member of the group before moving on to the next problem. IkamvaYouth also provides e-literacy, ensuring that all learners passing through the programme are computer literate before they go to tertiary. Learners are encouraged to be creative through creative expression activities. IkamvaYouth provides mentoring to all learners in grade 12, ensuring they get guidance and motivation to achieve in their final year, and that they apply for tertiary placements, as well as bursaries. IkamvaYouth aims at 100% post high grade placements, to tertiary, employment or learnerships. The organisation also provides voluntary counselling and testing to learners and volunteers, and holds workshops for positive living and well being.
