Mission

Afrika Tikkun was founded in 1995 by the late Chief Rabbi Cyril Harris. Nelson Mandela has been our revered Patron-in Chief since inception. Our development organisation is dedicated to investing in education, health and social services for disadvantaged children, youth and their families through Community Centres of Excellence and strategic partnerships. Our aim to empower communities in South Africa to develop new generations of productive citizens. This is achieved through a Holistic Development Model. It is delivered from 6 purpose built Centres of Excellence in the Townships in which we operate (Diepsloot, Orange Farm, Alexandra, Hillbrow, Mfuleni, Delft) The model starts with the support and care for infants in a vulnerable home situation and ends with contributing members of society. We deliver five core inter-related services that nurture, educate and support children and youth who face various socio-economic challenges that deprive many of a decent childhood and place them in highly vulnerable environments.
