Programs

1. Early Education Program We have been working with poor children for more than 20 years We administer Buen Comienzo for the City of Medellin, which is a government program, for children's early development. The early education program at "La FundacionSolidaria La Visitacion" is carried out in a variety of fields, which can be divided into three main areas: Institutional environment 8 hours - Children's Centers: We benefit children under 5 years old, through a comprehensive service which offers the components of care, nutrition and early education 5 days a week; each day of 8 hours. Community Environment - Educational Support Units (UPA): Similarly, in this manner, we provide comprehensive care for children under 5 years who are currently cared by the welfare homes of the ICBF (government institution), complementing the service of care and nutrition with an educational component. Family Environment: We provide a comprehensive service in care, nutrition and initial education to children under 5 years old, located in rural or urban areas, who are currently educated by their families, strengthening the educational work at home. Projects under this program: Learning: Developing skills in the areas of: - Personal-social - Verbal and artistic representation and communication. - Relations with the physical, natural, cultural, and social environment. Nourishing: Promotion of healthy habits and lifestyles that have a positive impact on the nutritional status of children and their families. Children receive 80% of their nutritional needs for the day. Communicating: Training and orientation in communicative processes (language, speech, hearing, voice and facial expression) of children to foster their comprehensive development. Living in community: Counseling and support of socio-familiar process of the children and their families. Accompanying family: Accompaniment and orientation for the children and their families in the process of prevention and promoting healthy habits, through the multidisciplinary care in psycho-social, nutritional, and educational situations. Counseling: Accompaniment and orientation to educational agents to improve and / or prevent situations that affect the development of children. 2. Prevention Program. This is a set of recreational, social and educational projects, with a pedagogical model dedicated to the learning, construction, and development of children, adolescents, youth, mothers, fathers and / or guardians, in poor communities of Medellin. We have been offering this program for more than 17 years. Ou youth centers are scenarios for the formation of social actors while strengthening psycho-social skills through play, artistic expression, the promotion of reading, constructive use of leisure time and the interaction of those in the program. It is a program aimed to prevent social problems such as drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, bullying or crime, all through the strengthening of psycho-social skills and values. Projects under this program: Living Together: A training process that promotes the strengthening of psycho-social skills in order to create resilient attitudes in children aged 6 to 12 years old. Be Creative: Artistic development in music, dance, theater, and visual arts for children/adolescents. Skill building for adults. Through these art workshops, we aim to strengthen resilient attitudes in the participants. Let's Play: Project that promotes the act of play, sharing of toys and sports equipment, along with literature, at the toy library and at home. Recognizing each other: Psychological group sessions with adolescents and youth that promotes the development of psycho-social skills to build resilient attitudes. Playing with the Family: Project that trains groups of parents and their children to join together in an environment of recreation, education, and family enjoyment, in order to strengthen their psycho-social skills and resilient attitudes. Let's talk: Process of training, counseling, and support for children, adolescents and their primary group; from the perspectives of promotion, prevention, and intervention. Reading Together: Project for promotion and participation in reading with children, adolescents, parents and advisers to promote psycho-social skills that promote resilient attitudes. We are always monitoring and evaluating our programs, along with modifying them or creating new ones according to present-day situations and trends. 3. Environmental Education Program- This is an another field in which we work, developing different programs for children, youth, or adults in order to educate them on environmental conservation.
