They say that summer will be starting in Seattle any day now, and that means long days and lots of parkour outside in the city's great parks. It also means summer camps at the gym your donations have helped build and continue to improve!
Last year, we expanded our gym by 4,000 square feet and built an amazing climbing wall. This year, we're working on program improvements and rolling out a new apprentice program that will allow some of our most dedicated students as well as parkour practitioners from all over to learn how to teach more people how to overcome obstacles.
New obstacles are showing up weekly, thanks to materials you helped us purchase and to staff you've enabled us to hire. This year is full of great potential, and we continue to be grateful to you and to the rest of our donors and volunteers who make it all possible.
Thank you for everything, and I hope to see you at the gym or at one of our classes outside!
Thank you so much for your contribution! With your help you will be providing 50 underprivileged youth the chance to dream through their bodies and learn tools of empowerment through movement.
Right now, I’m in process of applying for my visa to India, and then buying the plane ticket!
I’m very excited for this opportunity - to provide others with the life lessons I learned through parkour: to never give up, to practice patience, to believe in myself. Parkour taught me to have power in making choices: parkour is about choosing and discovering one’s own path.
While I am in India, I will be keeping a Youtube vlog of the trip and send you updates of the trip! I will be travelling to India September 2013 and will live in Mumbai for the month. (To get updates on the vlog, subscribe to my Youtube channel http://youtube.com/cstormpk )
Mia started classes at Parkour Visions one year ago. She began in our basics classes and has put in a lot of time working on her parkour skills both inside the gym and out. For her birthday, she asked her parents for a parkour setup in her room. And they actually did it! Mia has recently graduated to our advanced level classes, and has logged some great times at the last two obstacle course events at the gym.
When Mia started at PKV, our gym was 6,000 square feet and we had a modest class schedule. Now, we're at 10,000 square feet and keep on having to add classes to keep up with the demand for parkour in Seattle. The big space enables us to run events like our recent Spring Obstacle Course Challenge just last week and to run three classes at the same time to catch up with kids after school.
Your contributions have enabled our growth, and, more importantly, have made it possible for kids like Mia to come to our gym and learn the joy of movement.
We can't thank you enough for your help so far. Every time a new student comes to the gym and goggles at all the obstacles and structures you've helped us purchase and build, we humbly tell them that we couldn't have done it without our great community of donors and volunteers. You helped us build out our amazing space. We hope you'll continue to help us as we grow.
