New Program Music for Live in Hospital Classroom

This program arises thanks to the solidarity of the singer Carolina Jaramillo who has donated her earnings from the concerts and the record called "El amor es lo que salva"; It was created for the children with cancer who are taking their treatment at the children's Hospital.

The beautifull love story of Carolina and alejandro has motivated more caring people and institutions to join this program such as: the College of Music in Medellin and Cantoalegre with Master Tita Maya and their teachers conducted classes for children with the highest educational level, Siddartha Músical and Cedar have donated the first instruments and others are donating online.

To the sound of the piano, ukuleles, violins, marimbas and chinchones, The children follow with surprising mystical the notes of the universal language of mankind: "The Music", reflecting on their faces  joy, peace and happiness.

Our dream is to see the program Music to live growing and benefiting more children suffering from different diseases, some may take the instruments home and keep on with the practice of music as well as developing activities for the research on the impact of music therapy in children suffering from cancer and critical illness.

We need your help, thank you for your donation.

New teacher for children thanks to your donation

Tomas, child with burns
Tomas, child with burns

Thanks to your donation children with critical illnesses such as cancer, kidney failure, cystic fibrosis, etc. must remain in the Hospital and away from their family and friends for extended periods. This creates a negative emotional impact on them, which leads to anxiety, fears, stress and depression. For this reason, the new TEACHER teaches children in the rooms and children with burns that are isolated.

Carrying out playful, recreational and artistic activities guided by a TEACHER encourages children and their families to be happy, creative, joyful, upbeat, relaxed and to have fun during the hospitalization period. Also, the teacher’s support in a formal curriculum plan enables children to keep up with their school learning process.

You next donation will support the new program "Music for Life" aimed at children with cancer. Expect more news about this soon.

Thanks "Hospital Classroom" to 5000 children

Thanks to the donation of Corporations, individuals, and Hospital employees through the GlobalGiving platform, approximately 5000 children with critical illnesses will have the opportunity to access a new teacher in 2015 in our "hospital classroom". This will have a tremendous impact to the program allowing children to change negative emotions into smiles, games and learning experiences..

Music therapy: reduces anxiety, improves self-esteem, helps socialization and increases creativity.

  • Laughter therapy: reduces fear, improves acceptance of treatments and reduces pain.
  • Reading: Helps children relate to characters who are also suffering and address taboo subjects that they must talk about but are generally avoided such as: death, pain, rage, helplessness, and loneliness.
  • Games: They help children understand, accept and confront their situation. They help children express their feelings, relieving them of emotional strain such as stress and anxiety.
