Cincinnati Bengals Player Makes A Surprise Visit

This week, our hospice team helped make a dream come true for one of their patients, Alex.  Alex is a big fan of Cincinnati Bengal AJ Green, and our team arranged for AJ to come to Cedar Village to surprise Alex.  This was made possible through one of our special funds which helps create wishes for our residents.  We bought Alex a Bengals shirt and hat.  AJ brought Alex an autographed number 18 Bengals jersey, game ball and a pair of black cleats with orange laces. Alex really enjoyed this special visit.  The next day, Channel 12 News came out to interview Alex and his wife.  Thanks to our hospice team for this special surprise and mitzvah

Making sandwiches to help those in need

Recently, members of the Senior Volunteers Project made wraps to take to the Ronald McDonald House in Cincinnati. The sandwich wraps were enjoyed by the families who stay at the house when their children are receiving medical treatment.

“I really enjoy going to the Ronald McDonald House because I see that I am making at difference to children and their parents. I still want to make a difference and this group allows me the ability to do that,” said one of the volunteers.

TheSenior VolunteersProject is a resident-driven initiative that involves both weekly and monthly acts of community service and truly exemplifies the meaning of performing a good deed. Providing the opportunity for our seniors to continue an active role as leaders in the community is just one manner in which we as staff members can trulyhonor our father and mother.

Residents learn how to arrange flowers

Our residents’ lives continue to be enriched at Cedar Village.  Popular classes include jewelry making, ceramics, and flower arranging.  They participate in the bell choir, music therapy sessions, and the Cedar Village Choir.

Recently, residents enjoyed arranging flowers together. First, the residents learned how to combine different categories of flowers together to make a beautiful bouquet. Next, they learned about how to cut the flowers before adding them to the vase. The flowers were placed in vases and then used to bring cheer to patients receiving health care.  The patients enjoyed the added color to their rooms and the fragrance that the bouquet provided.

Your donation will allow participants to continue making flower bouquets together.
