Mission

CCDO mission statement is to strengthen local community competency to the promotion of education, primary health care and development to deprived members of the societies through capacity building, provision of handcraft industries and vocational training to impaired children, poverty reduction, promoting human rights and advocacy skills, and mitigation the socio-economic imoact of HIV and AIDS. The Organization was formed by the 9 (nine) professional women coming from different fields of study in Iringa region with major aims to support poor rural marginalized children and widows by HIV and AIDS through education for all campaigns, support community outreach work, disabled children, orphans, widows, youth groups, and women's empowerment through capacity building. Our goal is standards of living in misery rural households improved through self-reliant participatory efforts of members of those households.

Programs

Currently the CCDO is implementing two (2) projects; 1. Supporting poor marginalized 72 girls coming from pastoralists families to go to schools. Since Girls education in the pastoralist areas in the areas of Idodi, Mahenge, Pawaga and Isimani of Iringa Rural districts is even worse off. Most girls are working to herd their home cattles and they are consireded as the bridewealth, seen as less capableand unproductive.Despite the Government Policy which is saying education is for all irrespectively their genders, yet most children of pastoralists and other mobile communities have no easy access to state sponsored formal and non- formal education, others they fear long distance to schools, teachers are also not prepared to work in the pastoralist areas as result most of pastoralist children do not perfom well in their National Examination in Standard Seven. Based on those constraints above, the CCDO is working to build capacity to pastoralists families by educating their influencial pastoralists leaders, parents, local leaders, religious leaders, Ward Executive Officers, District Council Members, and chiefs on the benefits of sending their girls to school instead of herding their cattles. We motivate them through gender participatory approach and giving scholastic materials for school misery children, we formed pastoraslists education committees and competition Cow awards for families sending their children to schools and also to offer full schlarship to those passed to secondary schools at the level of Form One and Form Five. We also motivate them the negative impacts of mobile living live to their future life and their children by supporting small horticulture business through provision of soft loan revolving funds for their well being including social socialization issue. 2. Reducing Women Poverty through Practical Entrepreneurial Skills. We work to improve the living standards of youngsters in Iringa Region through enabling young girls to engage in income generation activities so as to promote self-reliant education and civic education campaign in each component. Currently we construct of women recration business entertainment centers (cafeteria, shops, sport center, information center, and film show center) within Iringa Municipality and we are about to finalize construction. We also work to provide small scale soft loan to marginalized poor women coming from remote areas based on their innovative projects as like provision of credit to those engaged in small scale business caf'e service. This is because the youngsters in Iringa have got serious economic and social problems. The area is lacking youngsters recreation business and entertainment centers and employment opportunities. Even though youth population is dominant in the town, there are no enough jobs to absorbs them and there is very high unemployment. As a result the youth do involve in illegal activities such as theft, prostitution, gangsters and so on to sustain their lives hence high HIV/ AIDS infection. Therefore, we work to building capacity to those youngsters with expectation to reduce their poverty and become a good nation citizens. Finally, the CCDO is working also to improve the knowledge of 72 orphan children with HIV and AIDS and reduce the discrimination gap from the other people and especially from children, we care 72 AIDS orphans by feeding them into our rented children home and school, we provide uniforms, shoes, books and other related school kits. However, in 2011 we conducted fundraising campaign to construct our children home and school which is expected to be launched on January 2013. The Center will accomodate 160 AIDS orphans since the region is named as the disaster zone in Tanzania to have high people living with HIV and AIDS and orphans due to the escalation of women inheritance and cultural taboos that protect people to use condoms. Our on-going activities is to continue to mobilize the 72 orphans living with HIV and AIDS to work together in the group and build up of their capacities through ICT and vocational trainings. Again, the CCDO has constructed its own hospital known Iringa International Health and AIDS Research Center at Mkimbizi Village but with no existing partner. The hospital is well equipped modern equipment but with shortages of medical and nurses personnel and lab equipment. We are lacking international volunteers specialized in training, health research, midwives attendance, and capacity building skills. The agenda and expectation of request to international volunteers and personnel is to promote reciprocal exchange experience, skills and equipment maintenance. Our task pn-going task is to mobilize midwives including those newly qualified from Tanzania Schools of Midwifery; unemployed midwives and retired but able midwives for deployment to health facilities in rural communities to undertake a one year community service. This one year is mandatory for the newly graduated basic midwives, preparatory to being fully licensed to participate in our Iringa International Health and AIDS Research Center. The purpose of this program is to increase skilled attendance at birth so as to facilitate reduction in martenal, newborn and child mortality and morbidity. There fore, the CCDO is recognizing the Global Giving Organization is the transformation bridge and a tool to combat the existing youngsters social problems in Tanzania and global at large through collaborative reciprocal exchange experience and hhumanitarian connection aid to our HIV and AIDS orphans we care at our Center and look for better means to support international volunteers who can volunteer to work with us while the CCDO will afford to foot their free accomodation and travelling allowances based on agreed projects.
