Programs

"The Lunch Box - Healthy Tools To Help All Schools" is a web-based portal that enables all schools and school districts to make a healthy difference for all children in America. The Lunch Box provides the most current information and the pragmatic tools necessary to make good food available for all kids. An online toolkit, The Lunch Box provides schools with the complete spectrum of resources and tools necessary to transition a processed food-based K-12 school meal program to a whole foods environment where food is procured locally and prepared from scratch. Food service staff can access recipes and menu planners; education and policy resources; training; report templates; financial planning tools; and a wealth of instructional videos and tutorials. The Lunch Box is helping over 14,000 visitors each month make school lunches healthier for all children. "Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools" is helping schools to take the first step to fresher whole foods by implementing salad bars as part of their meal programs. It is a comprehensive grassroots public health effort to mobilize and engage stakeholders at the local, state and national level to support salad bars in schools. Our vision is to significantly increase salad bars in schools across the country until every child has the choice of healthy fruits and vegetables every day at school. Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools is an initiative of the Food Family Farming Foundation, National Fruit and Vegetable Alliance, United Fresh Produce Association Foundation and Whole Foods Markets to support First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! initiative. Since its inception in 2009, Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools has placed over 1,200 salad bars in school cafeterias, serving 603,000 school children across the United States.
