GlobalGiving Announces the Hire of Dr. William Hogan to Take Over the Role of CEO; Founder, Dennis Whittle, Becomes Chairman of the Internet Based International Philanthropy Marketplace

WASHINGTON, DC (May 27, 2005) — In an effort to build the company's technology and organizational capacity, GlobalGiving, an Internet-based service for international philanthropy, announced today its hire of William Hogan, founder and former CEO of multiple technology companies in Silicon Valley.

As a fifteen year veteran of Silicon Valley, Dr. Hogan has led several companies to successful funding, product launches, and financial sustainability in worldwide markets including online information systems, wireless communications, telecom, networking, and high-performance computing. He has served in management positions at Fortune 500 companies such as Hewlett-Packard/Convex, Harris Corporation, MasPar Computers and TRW, and as CEO of start-ups including Lynx (now LynuxWorks), Eternal Systems and Rappore Technologies. Dr. Hogan has also spent fifteen years in fund-raising for non-profits, in board positions and as director of the Science Museum in Palm Beach. He is a former professor with a PhD in computational physics, and is the author of over 40 articles and books ranging from computer science to international marketing. Dr. Hogan brings to GlobalGiving broad knowledge and experience in international marketing, sales, and global channels of distribution.

Dennis Whittle replaces former board chair, Carol Realini, who will remain on the board. Mr. Whittle will continue to play an active role within the company, leading fundraising efforts for GlobalGiving operations, guiding the organization’s future development, and ensuring that it delivers on its mission.
