Business Partnerships Manager

GlobalGiving is currently seeking a Business Partnerships Manager to work with and expand GlobalGiving’s roster of corporate and institutional partners. The Business Partnerships Manager will manage implementation of new initiatives, and will maintain and deepen ongoing relationships with existing GlobalGiving partners. As a member of the Business Development team, the Manager will contribute to goal setting and communications strategies, interface with our technology and program teams, and be expected to contribute to the overall achievement of GlobalGiving’s mission and goals.

Principal Activities/Objectives

  • Develop and manage key corporate partner relationships that contribute demonstrably to GlobalGiving’s efforts to be self-sustaining through revenue generation
  • Coordinate efforts of cross-functional GlobalGiving teams to expand on existing partnerships and lead execution of new partnerships.
  • Ensure that commitments made to partners are delivered upon
  • Manage implementation and ongoing maintenance of custom online giving solutions for GlobalGiving partners.
  • Maintain deal records/history and structure effective reporting in Salesforce.com.
  • Evaluate and prioritize incoming client/partnership leads
  • Collaborate with appropriate internal GlobalGiving staff to ensure visibility of campaigns and GlobalGiving

Required Experience/Personal Attributes

  • Business –to – Business client-facing experience in one or more of the following areas: consultative sales, account management, project management, and /or business development.
  • Experience working in an online business environment and a strong sense of the technology behind e-commerce applications
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning and prioritization skills
  • Comfort and enthusiasm about working in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment with a diverse, fun and high-energy team
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal management oversight take initiative and managing his/her time effectively
  • Rapport-building and relationship management skills and the ability to influence and persuade to achieve desired outcomes
  • Creativity in problem-solving and patience in responding to partner/client inquiries and demands
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. including strong Excel, Word and PC skills. Familiarity with web-based CRM a plus.
  • A sense of humor and love of (good) music and food an even bigger plus.

The Business Development Manager will preferably have a Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field and a minimum of 5 years experience that is directly related to the position, as described above. Travel will be required periodically (~10-15%).

Salary and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience. GlobalGiving provides access to health care coverage, and contributes toward monthly premiums. In addition, the company has a 401(k) plan, dental, vision, flexible spending account, and disability insurance available for employees. New employees accrue 15 days of paid time off annually.

Development Assistant - Intern

The Development Assistant is a key contributor to the GlobalGiving team. The successful candidate will partner with the President to generate a robust pipeline of operating support and build a solid funding base for the organization. GlobalGiving seeks a candidate who loves to take charge of a project from beginning to end, who will relish the opportunity to support a growing organization and a dynamic team. It is a great learning opportunity for someone interested in understanding the nuts and bolts of nonprofit fundraising and getting a unique insight into social capital markets. This is an unpaid position requiring at least 20 hours per week.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a capital funding pipeline and calendar of $3M to support operations
  • Research and report on foundation prospects and government funding opportunities
  • Manage a full grants calendar, including creation of proposals, budgets, and presentations
  • Collaborate with the President, CEO, and Chief Business Officer on the cultivation and stewardship of prospective institutional funders
  • Develop a regular program of communication with existing funding partners to increase engagement and retention
  • Create a "GlobalGiving At a Glance" document for prospecting, use in pitch meetings, etc.
  • Maintain a development database and prospect management system
  • Create grant reports as necessary and ensure timely reporting on all grant deliverables by managing reporting schedule
  • Perform additional tasks to support management or Board members as assigned

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task under a deadline, with great productivity and attention to detail

Undergraduate Project Internship - Fall 2010

GlobalGiving seeks a fun, motivated, self starter with an interest being part of a small, fast moving organization that is at the cutting edge of international aid and philanthropy.

GlobalGiving directly connects social entrepreneurs in the developing world with individuals, corporations, and institutions that have an interest in funding projects that fuel positive social and environmental change.

The candidate should have an interest in international development and be eager to help GlobalGiving better support social entrepreneurs working around the world. He or she will work with GlobalGiving's Project team to improve the quality of projects on our website and help project leaders succeed on GlobalGiving. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required along with good analytical skills and knowledge of SPSS, Stata.

Possible tasks include:

  • Investigating and designing tools to help project leaders market their work and maximize donations for their projects
  • Analyzing projects and funding patterns to determine what factors are important for projects to succeed on GlobalGiving
  • Reviewing and submitting projects for posting on the GlobalGiving site
  • Communicating with project leaders about due diligence and project updates, and reviewing submitted materials

Because GlobalGiving sits at the intersection of the corporate, foundation, and NGO worlds, the intern will gain from significant exposure to all three sectors and will learn about on-the-ground development work.

GlobalGiving directly connects social entrepreneurs in the developing world with individuals, corporations, and institutions that have an interest in funding projects that fuel positive social and environmental change.

The candidate should have an interest in international development, and be eager to learn about how GlobalGiving can better serve social entrepreneurs around the world by improving their access to financial resources, educational tools, and existing networks in the international aid sector. He or she will work with GlobalGiving's Project team to improve knowledge of the philanthropic sector and grow our emerging network of project organizations as well as conduct statistical analyses to aid the Project and marketing teams. Knowledge of the international development and philanthropy sectors, statistical modeling, strong knowledge of online communities and international NGO networks as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Candidate should also have strong marketing, communications and internet experience and experience with technology and product development.

Possible tasks include:

  • Leveraging networks and tools to help social entrepreneurs promote their projects and analyzing how GlobalGiving can serve different segments of social entrepreneurs
  • Using statistics to explore conversion rates and how projects can better meet geographic and thematic interests of donors
  • Assist in developing a system for reputation or ratings to improve transparency and feedback within the GlobalGiving community
  • Working with the Project team to make GlobalGiving more accessible to social entrepreneurs working at the grassroots level
  • Working with the Project team to develop tools and services to help project leaders use the GlobalGiving platform effectively

Operations Assistant Internship - Fall 2010

GlobalGiving seeks motivated, energetic and savvy self starters with an interest in being part of a small, fast moving organization that is at the cutting edge of international aid and philanthropy. GlobalGiving enables individuals, corporations, and institutions to find and directly fund social, environmental, and other development-oriented projects around the world.

The Operations Assistant is a key contributor to the GlobalGiving team. The successful candidate will partner with the Senior Vice President of Operations to provide modeling, event preparation, research, and logistical support for all aspects of GlobalGiving Operations. GlobalGiving seeks a candidate who loves to take charge of a project from beginning to end, who will relish the opportunity to support a growing organization and a dynamic team. It is a great learning opportunity for someone interested in understanding the nuts and bolts of running a business and great exposure to the world of international philanthropy. This is an unpaid position requiring at least 16 hours per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Keep the office running like a well-oiled machine through day-to-day office administration such as ordering office and kitchen supplies, consistent upkeep of conference rooms and common areas, scheduling meetings, handling incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and faxes
  • Help plan team building events that underscore company culture and build a more cohesive team
  • Assist with new hire orientation and research of training opportunities for staff
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date physical assets inventory
  • Handle general information and customer service requests by phone, mail, email, and fax
  • Post job descriptions on various websites for summer 2010 and fall 2010 Interns and any full-time job openings, read through Jobs queue in Salesforce to find suitable candidates, and arrange for interviews
  • Assimilate new hires – new hire checklist, workspace, computer set-up, elevator key, etc.
  • Keep Personnel Files up-to-date and organized
