Through football,this project will provide an open environment where children feel empowered to advocate for their rights, thereby becoming vital members of their community and improving their future.
Through Right of the Child (ROC), trained educators teach children about their rights to education, health, and participation. Even though ROC has taught these children about their rights, Care Net has realized that children still face many hierarchical barriers because of the lack of a platform. Ghanaian children feel stifled in their freedom to speak up for themselves and to be assertive, because within this culture there are stigmas which lead adults to perceive assertiveness as arrogance
Football is a unifying sport that allows for education and entertainment to mix in a more comfortable setting. Football games offer the children a platform to advocate for pertinent community issues, while building self-esteem and becoming proactive.
Children from 10 destitute communities will learn to advocate for the rights of children among peers, adults, and potential aggressors. These are skills they will carry into adulthood and pass on to future generations of children.
