The programme focuses on the critical issue of livelihood for youth. The aim is to enable the youth in making informed choices in life by generating awareness among them about livelihood options.
Youth growing up with little access to resources, education, awareness and productive employment are easy targets for creating alienation and discontent. Adressing this and based on a feasibility study mapping the skill sets of 250 youth from the marginalised communities, SAHER conceived of an employability programme as an extension to its active citizenship programme. 20 youth are currently involved in this pilot project.
-Workshops, sessions on employability and exposure visits on livelihood options and career guidance -Basic Courses in Computers and Workplace English -Creating opportunities for training and internship to enhance employability
To build a collective of young people, who recognize their self-worth and are aware of their rights and to facilitate a process whereby youth receive information on available opportunities and are guided towards making informed choices.
