There is a dramatic hunger catastrophe in the Horn of Africa. Families don't know how they will survive the next day. The consequences of the corona pandemic and the Ukraine were and are enormous, many fields have not been able to be cultivated; Food prices climbed to dizzying heights. Deadly droughts are occurring in countries such as Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia. Millions of children, women and men are suffering from hunger.
We distribute drinking water and food to people in drought regions. To improve the water problem, we repair wells and springs and distribute water purification tablets. Mobile clinics and medical units for malnourished children provide basic medical care. Furthermore, we distribute sanitary products and provide basic hygiene education to prevent the spread of water-borne diseases.
It is our long-term goal to prepare inhabitants of areas, where droughts are likely, and equip them with knowledge of how to prevent a severe impact of the drought. For example, we distribute drought resistant seeds or train people how to use water more effectively. Many of our projects are designed to improve self-help capacities to ensure that the target group becomes gradually independent from humanitarian aid.
