This project will expand the capacity of the support services for our permanent supportive housing and transitional housing programs. CHAT's furniture and food warehouse that provides regular custom food boxes on a biweekly basis for 151 individuals and furniture for over 274 residents who were formally unhoused. These are volunteer run and rely on donations of food and furniture. This project will support the programs to be able to purchase a commercial freezer, food, and inventory software.
There are a large number of unhoused individuals in Butte County both in shelters and on the streets. We support populations with barriers to housing such as: mental illness, low credit score, former incarceration, limited income. We serve families, veterans, individuals with physical or mental disabilities. CHAT is committed to continue to bring in more residents over time. Most individuals we support do not have access to furniture and suffer from food insecurity.
Our volunteer led programs deliver custom food boxes to every resident who requests them biweekly. We currently deliver to 151 individuals. We also furnish every home and room specific to the individual moving in. This project would allow these programs to purchase a commercial freezer to store more donated food & supplement purchasing some food as needed. It would also allow the necessary software to efficiently track in kind furniture donations. This would greatly increase capacity.
This funding will help stabilize vulnerable populations to move in and remain housed. Our programs let people who would otherwise be homeless become productive and healthy members of society.
