Interested in joining GlobalGiving? Let us tell you a bit more about ourselves.
GlobalGiving is an online fundraising platform designed to help organizations all over the world raise funds to support their projects. In addition to our large network of individual donors and corporate sponsors, we also offer organizations a unique set of online tools and trainings. Learn more about the different resources and benefits available to organizations through our site below.
Since 2002, almost 200,000 donors like you have given more than $45 million to over 4,000 projects on GlobalGiving (as of May 2011). Find more up-to-date information about our network at the top of our homepage!
Online Donation Processing: GlobalGiving makes it easy for donors to make donations to your organization online using credit cards and PayPal.
Donation Manager: GlobalGiving manages all of your organization’s donations and compiles the information in an easy-to-use donation manager, which shows you who donated, how much, and how they found your organization online.
Project Reports: Keep your donors connected by simply submitting a project report through GlobalGiving! After you submit a brief report about your project’s recent activities and accomplishments, GlobalGiving sends it as an email to all your previous donors. This makes it easy for you to ensure that all of your donors receive your updates. No messy mail merge or listservs!
Customized Thank You’s: Organizations can send customized thank you emails to each of their donors using a branded email through GlobalGiving’s donation manager.
All donations are tax deductible for U.S. Citizens: All projects on globalgiving.org have been pre-qualified for 501(c)(3) equivalency status. Further, all donations go through the GlobalGiving Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, making them tax-deductible for U.S. taxpayers to the full extent permitted by law. This means that international organizations can use GlobalGiving to reach out to their American networks. GlobalGiving handles all donor tax-receipts, meaning less work for you!
GlobalGiving’s Widgets help you promote your project on your organization’s homepage, blog or social network. One click takes donors directly to your project page so they can donate. Email tools and widgets make it easy to share your fundraiser with support networks, family, and friends.
GlobalGiving Fundraisers: GlobalGiving makes it easy for you to turn your organization’s supporters into active advocates. Encourage your donors to use GlobalGiving fundraiser pages to raise money for your GlobalGiving projects. Supporters can use Fundraisers to set their own fundraising goals and reach out to their own networks on your behalf! Here’s an example of a successful GlobalGiving Fundraiser. Volunteers: GlobalGiving partners with several volunteer organizations to help your organization reach out to a worldwide network of capable volunteers and interns. Whether your organization has administrative, hands on, or communication needs, there is someone out there who wants to help, and we’ll help you find them. Visit GlobalGiving’s current volunteer listings.
Tribute Cards: Did you know that your donors can give a donation to your organization as a gift to a family member of friend using GlobalGiving’s tribute cards? This is a great way to promote giving to your organization for holidays, birthdays, and special occasions! We will even send a beautiful card straight to the gift recipient’s home (or email inbox).
Gift Cards: GlobalGiving Gift Cards let someone give the gift of giving - the recipient gets to decide to which project they would like to allocate their donation. Gift Cards are available as physical cards, or choose convenient eCards or print them at home!
Reccurring Donation Option: When your donor chooses to support your project, they'll be asked to specify whether this is a "one time" or "monthly recurring donation." If they select "monthly recurring donation" the amount they wish to give will easily be transferred to your project funds every month.
Gift Registries: A donor can create a gift registry for any occasion — a wedding, birthday, or anniversary — or simply to generate support for projects like yours. A GlobalGiving registry is a list of "gifts" that they would like to receive, but in this case, the gift is actually a donation to your project. Check out a GlobalGiving staff member’s own gift registry!
Mission Fish: GlobalGiving partners with MissionFish to make it easy for eBay sellers to give proceeds from their sales to nonprofits. GlobalGiving partners with MissionFish to allocate funds to various active projects.
Training Sessions: GlobalGiving offers trainings that teach your organization how to use GlobalGiving’s site effectively, conduct outreach to your donors, and develop effective fundraising strategies. See slides from past trainings on topics like Diaspora giving and using social media.
Tools & Training Blog: Learn best practices in online fundraising, find out about new GlobalGiving features and campaigns, and get information about external fundraising opportunities from GlobalGiving's blog designed specifically for non-profit organizations.
Project of the Month: Each month, GlobalGiving picks an exceptionally high-performing project as the "Project of the Month," which is featured among a select group of donors. Recurring monthly donations made by individuals who sign up to give to the Project of the Month are directly allocated to the project’s funds.
Every year GlobalGiving hosts different campaigns—matching day, photo competitions, etc.—aimed towards giving your organization the opportunity to reach out to your donors and compel them to donate.
In June 2010, GlobalGiving hosted a 50% match Bonus Day on which GlobalGiving matched all donations (up until $1,000) up until $70,000. Organizations raised $226,636 from 1,385 donations on that day and received $70,000 in matching funds from GlobalGiving.
