Conservation Of Forests

Most of the forests in our country are being cut carelessly to pave way for human encroachment, ranging from Mau forest, Kakamenga forest and many others, have undergone extreme degradation. Green belt movement headed by her right honourable Prof. Wangari Maathai has gone ahead to spearhead for redamatron of the forest. I live near Kakamenga forest , and what i have seen is really encouraging. The community has been sensitized on the need to conserve forests and how to go about it. Also their project 'Cut one plant two' has been successful. Also they have held afforestation and re afforestation programmes on several occassions and thus there is hope in us reclaimingour forests.
