Agricultural Programmes Initiative

Plant growth and produce was highly affected by lack of the expected annual rain. Western province was one of the largest areas, that was surprisingly affected most. People had not prepared to face such a calamity. Animals died and people suffered but mostly, children under the age of 7 suffered done to malnutrition. It was survival for the fittest in order to live and see another day. The government tried its best, but some of its help couldn't reach the interior parts of the county such old area. Ekero in Mumias. fortunately, an organization i.e Western water and sanitation forum was able to penetrate and reach the interior parts. They offered food supplies and also helped us start an irrigation scheme that was to support the agricultural programme of crops grown for food. We are still receiving their support which has succeeded since 2009.
