High Quality Cassava

A group of 20 farmers are operating a cassava processing pilot plant at Bulemia village of Bulinda District western province of Kenya. In the past, they produced traditionally processed cassava chips that was giving them very low income. The group was trained by extension workers in the area on different processing option for good cassava flow with improved methods for transforming fresh roots quickly into five shelf stable flour. The group can process 500kg of fresh cassava and package the flour within 24 hours after harvest. They now sells to biscuit manufacturers in Eldoret. farmers now get more income than traditionally processed cassava chips. They now have more money to support their children in school. Farmers are now confident of great potential of using high quality cassava flour to reduce moral poverty of the resource farmers in the region .
