Feeding Programme In Schools

Feeding school children has been an uphill task to both the parents and the government. Due to poverty in the slums, most parents can not even afford one meal a day. Children can not concentrate in class when they are hungry. This is a case which is witnessed not only in Kenya but in most developing countries. This forced the WFP to intervene to save the situation. Here, food is provided to most of schools in Kibera for lunch free of charge with the help of The Red Cross which distributes the food. This has been going on for some time until this year when the food distribution stopped and some schools citing lack of stock and funds promising to resume when funds become available.
