By Thomas Lwebuga | Director Uganda Program
Dear GlobalGiving and Global Giving donors, thank you for giving us the opportunity to continue towards the goal of providing science education to the students of St. Andrews Matale.
All of us at Harambee Centre appreciate your continued support for our program in Uganda. Together with our conscientious Ugandan school and community leaders, we are privileged to be able to change lives.
“We would like to thank you very much for the efforts to make our science study environment more conducive. What was a dream – having a science lab – is now being realized,” wrote the Head teacher.
With recent funding the school purchased many practical items for the physics and chemistry labs.
Because of the science lab, the graduating class of 2009 performed better than any class in the school’s history in science
In 2009, Margret and Prossy, two female students at St. Andrews, wrote on behalf of their class describing the impact of the lab:
“We, as students, have benefited a lot from the science lab. The following are some of the benefits we have gained: - we have got enough exposure to science equipment - we have got more practice and the ability to pass practical papers - we have gained more confidence when writing practical papers - we have got the morale of offering sciences at ‘A’ level - we have got exposure to science teachers
Funds that we will wire next are going to be used to buy specific chemicals and apparatus required for the Uganda National Examinations that will take place in October 2010.
We thank our generous donors for their continued support!”
Asante sana, from Harambee Centre as well.
