Dear Supporters,

A Thoughtful Conclusion to the LITEK Program

It is with deep reflection and a sense of gratitude that we share an important update about the LITEK program. After careful consideration, we have made the decision to conclude the program following the completion of our Advanced Training this fall, with our one active freelancer.

Challenges and Setbacks Along the Way

This decision was not made lightly, but the challenging economic landscape both in Nigeria and the US has led to a number of unforeseen obstacles. Our primary US-based client, which provided the majority of work opportunities for our freelancers, shifted their business priorities and ended our contract. Additionally, one freelancer had to step away to support a family member, while another encountered financial challenges in covering the costs of data for the training. We also faced technical setbacks when one of the laptops we provided stopped working, and we were unable to replace or repair it.

A Silver Lining: Success Amidst Challenges

Despite these hurdles, we are proud to share a silver lining. Our remaining freelancer, through her dedication and the skills gained in Advanced Training, is now on track to secure a full-time contract as a virtual executive assistant for a US-based company. This achievement exemplifies why we started LITEK—to create pathways to economic advancement for Nigerian youth through technology. Seeing this vision come to life, even in just one individual’s journey, reminds us of the profound impact this program has had.

Pride in Our Accomplishments

Every dollar raised, every ounce of effort invested, has contributed to the technological and professional growth of the Nigerian youth involved. We have learned so much from this experience, and it has reinforced our belief that programs like LITEK are more essential than ever, especially in a post-COVID world where economic challenges are felt globally.

Looking Ahead with Hope

While we are closing this chapter, we remain hopeful. We envision a future where a similar program—properly funded and scaled to reach more youth—can withstand the kinds of setbacks we faced. We believe in the potential of these young people and in the power of technology to transform their lives.

 Gratitude for Our Supporters

As we conclude LITEK, we hold our heads high, knowing that we have made a lasting difference. We are deeply grateful to you, our supporters, for making this possible. Your contributions have allowed us to be a beacon of hope and opportunity for all who participated, and for that, we will forever be thankful.

With heartfelt appreciation,
Chinwe Grace Jones
