This project will train 200 young activists and potential leaders on peace and security from three districts of Tajikistan. The trained young activists will support us with the advocacy of the values of intercultural and interfaith dialogue in their respective communities. To achieve this goal, the project will organize 3 two-day training sessions on international and national legal tools, tolerance, prevention of violent extremism, and social cohesion.
Tajikistan has been faced with the challenges of peace and security since it has gained independence in 1991. The youth, particularly in remote areas are affected by violent extremism, terrorism, continuous conflicts emerging in various parts of the country. One of the reasons for this challenge is the lack of awareness of youth about the implications of the above-mentioned phenomena. This situation leads to radicalization and easy recruitment of youth by various violent extremism groups.
The project will conduct three two-day trainings for 150 young activitists from three remote districts of Tajikistan to raise their awareness about the current trend with radicalization leading to violent extremism. These sessions will cover the issues of national and international legislation, culture of tolerance and peaceful co-existence, countering narratives of violent extremism in informational space and social environment. The young activists will use this knowledge and skills in future.
The awareness of trainees will enable them to protect themselves from the implications and risks of radicalization leading to violent extremism and raise the awareness of other community members about these issues, which will eventually promote peace and security, social cohesion and peaceful co-existence. it will prevent the young people from being influenced and recruited by violent extremist groups and organizations.
