The goal is to support youth leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean to participate in a regional event for the prevention of violence "HOLISTIC MISSION IN VIOLENT TIMES" in Honduras in September 2016. It will provide an inter-generational space where young people and adults will discuss and work together regarding the issue of violence, exchanging experiences and best practices on how to create cultures of peace.
Violence in its various forms is a pervasive reality, and is under reported and often overlooked in Latin America and the Caribbean. Among the forms of violence, violence against children, domestic violence, violence in the context of migration, racial violence and commercial sexual exploitation of children stand out due to their severity.
Young leaders from diverse peace-promoting organizations within the Micah Network in Latin America will share their vision and experience at this event. Through the creation of a learning community and the exchange of best practices and relevant tools between participants and their communities of origin, will further the construction of a culture of peace, restoration, and fair and care interactions.
25 young leaders from different countries across Latin America will be part of this enrichment process, being empowered to lead violence prevention efforts in their communities.
