Unemployment among youths especially in rural area is becoming a serious problem in Rwanda . The livelihood of more than 90% of the Rwandan Population in rural area depends on agriculture but the land is one of scarce resource due to the high population density. This situation requires youths in rural area to find alternative to agriculture in order to access job or becoming self-employed. Access to finance is also limited for youths.
The project intends to solve the problem through training youths in technical, vocational and business skills through a rural TVET program, where youths will be linked to local artisans for apprenticeship opportunities and after acquiring technical and vocational skills they will be provided with start up kits to become self-employed. The youths will be also linked to successful entrepreneurs in order to serve as their role models.
