World Cleanup Day will take action on problematic waste hotspots (such as rivers), aiming to build specific civic engagement to help with a clean environment. We will identify all problematic hotspots across the country. National cleanup advocates will organize cleanup actions at hotspots. Through actions, we will bring attention to citizens, institutions, NGOs and media. Raising national awareness about pollution, this action will address the urgent issue while also providing positive progress.
Albania is a beautiful country, but we are trashing it every day. There is currently a dramatic environmental situation in Albania. Illegal dumpsites, hazardous and medical waste in public spaces, around city centers, rural areas, along rivers and coastline, are affecting the communities in every city of Albania. Trash Culture is having a direct negative impact on public health, better living and in social and economic growth in every sector.
World Cleanup Day in Albania will activate and engage youth volunteers in environmental causes and act towards concrete actions. We aim to train volunteers and to organize creative Cleanup action in some of the most polluted areas in Albania. The main goal of the project is to educate and to demonstrate that the environmental situation in our country can change if we start acting together. We intend to initiate a new culture when it comes to cleanup actions and make this our lifestyle.
The project aims to start with the capital city of Albania and expand as a green wave all over Albania in just One Day. This will make cleaning and protecting the environment a growing culture in the cities of Albania and combining this with the global cleanup action that Green Line Albania has been doing in the last 8 years in the frame of Let's Do It World Civic Movement which is present in 158 countries. We believe that World Cleanup Day will have a larger impact on Albanian society.
