Adaklu is noted for growing cassava. Most of these cassava farmers are women. Cassava farming is a source of livelihood for these women.Although cassava farming has many prospects, they are yet to be exploited. This project seeks to empower these women diversify their source of livelihood through the introduction of cassava processing. The project will construct a mechanized cassava processor for the use of the community. This facility will provide service at a reduced cost for maintenance.
Cassava farming is the main occupation of the women of Adaklu. Although there Cassava has a lot of economic potentials, it is yet to be exploited. After harvesting cassava, these women travel about 20 miles to process this cassava.
By providing a mechanized cassava processor for the Adaklu community, these women will be economically empowered. This will give them the opportunity to fully exploit the potential of Cassava for livelihood.
1. Reduced cost of processing cassava. 2. Employment opportunities will be created in the value chain of cassava. 3. More than 5000 women will have a source of livelihood.
