This project, led by women will provide quick action relief and recovery support to 3.000 poor women and girls affected by severe changes in the climate by providing them with training, capacity-building, organizing skills and direct materials and financial assistance for their own well-being and the well-being of their families.
Severe changes in climate is affecting the Philippines in a severe way and the most vulnerable are poor women and girls. Severe dry season, earthquakes, volcanic activities and flooding is a common occurrence and there is a need to install a quick response fund that will specifically assist poor women and girls as they are most often sidelined and overlooked when disaster strikes.
We will provide a quick response support comprising materials and monetary fund which we will mobilize once a disaster is happening. With the fund and our preliminary response, we will be able to reach-out and intervene in a timely way while at the same time deeply assessing the situation and planning and implementing long-term recovery support.
Our long-term impact will be in ensuring and providing for the welfare of poor women and girls who are vulnerable to changes in climate by quickly providing for their needs. One of our strategies will be to rapidly train and deploy volunteer women and girls and they will be front-line actors during the long recovery effort.
