Summary

The purpose of the proposed project is to empower women on land right and property ownership and its effects. The project will directly benefit 800 persons, 500 women and 300 men and 80,000 people will benefit indirect benefit. The impacts are expected on change of attitudes and overall quality of life. economic situation, in particular skills and self-confidence) & social participation at family and community levels. MPDO-LARETO will conduct awareness and training activities in 40 villages.

Challenge

Strong dominating traditional and cultural norms which lead to continuous women exploitation, abuse and gender-based Violence, women, girls and children are highly affected. Problem - women identified are landless and face economic, social and cultural disadvantages that continue to leave them exposed to poverty and extremely excluded in participation on development process. The project will directly benefit 800 persons, 500 women and 300 men and 80,000 people will benefit indirectly.

Solution

MPDO-LARETO will solve the problems by Promoting awareness and advocacy though training's & meetings with local authorities & community on women's legal right issues to enable them to access to improved livelihoods schemes, income-generating activities, demonstrate the feasibility of women's role in participation & inclusion in development planning and implementation processes, control of productive resources including land to the marginalized Pastoralists women in 40 villages.

Long-Term Impact

The long term impacts of the project is expected to change of attitudes and overall quality of life, economic situation ,access to public service delivery at family and community level, the project will increase women skills, awareness and self-confidence towards resources ownership.The project will solve the problems of marginalized & discriminated women to access to land rights & property ownership. 800 persons will directly benefit, 500 women and 300 men and 80,000 will indirectly benefit.
