Dear friends and sponsors of Wikimapa project,

I'm very pleased to have the opportunity of sharing our latest news from the field.

This week Rede Jovem Program and Wikimapa project team promoted a training event for a group of 20 young boys and girls residents from Complexo do Alemao slum that will soon begin the mapping work for Wikimapa project. They will be responsible for engaging the whole community on the mapping activities to ensure visibility of all Points of Interest located on this huge low-income neighborhood and to re-create the official geography, including streets and places never before registered on the existent online mapping services.

Check out what one of the future wiki-reporters, Jaddy Kathryn, 19 years old thinks about wikimapa project and is expecting to see happening on her communty:

"I’m loving to participate on such a nice project like Wikimapa Project and  I’m convinced that all  residents will love this idea and I can already imagine people feeling very important for having their shops and establishments visible for the entire world!  On behalf of my community I want to thank for this wonderful work and project that will bring us lots of benefits".

If you´re interested on knowing more about what this new team of wiki-reporters is sharing about Wikimapa project and want to follow our latest news, check out our blog, with Portuguese content.

That´s all folks, for now. Soon I'll bring more news about the training event and all planning work for the official launch of Wikimapa project's new stage! Stay tuned to hear more about everything of this new stage.
