The project will support over 15,000 marginalized children (conception to 3), pregnant women, parents, and local communities in the mountainous Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan by offering early childhood development services based on WHO's nurturing care framework. This initiative will have a transformative impact by establishing the groundwork for lifelong learning, nurturing cognitive and socio-emotional skills, and improving the overall well-being of children and mothers.
Hundreds of girls and boys under age 5 are not reaching their development potential due to poverty, poor health & nutrition, and lack of stimulation and learning opportunities in Gilgit Baltistan of Pakistan. Although the government is trying to address these issues this is beyond its capacity. Therefore, almost 80% of the children are deprived of their full potential and remain at risk of stunting growth, deprivation from quality education, and overall protection.
Our program caters to these issues by providing a platform for children, mothers, pregnant women, caregivers and families for the optimal development of children. The centres will enrol children and parents for interactive sessions on nurturing care framework; good health, adequate nutrition, security and safety, opportunities for early learning, and responsive caregiving to improve the cognitive, social-emotional, language and physical development of children and overall well-being of mothers.
The project will benefit over 15,000 children, parents, grandparents, caregivers and local communities in effective ways and means for the sustainable development of their child in the first 1,000 days so that these children reach their full potential to enjoy a meaningful life ahead.
