The purpose of this project is as follows: Harvesting rain for improved livelihoods for the people of Wantugu and its surrounding communities in the Tolon district of Ghana. The goal or broad objective of the 12-month project is to contribute to improving health and livelihoods of 492 families in 3 poor towns.
There is lack of clean drinking water, and all the community members are drinking from the community dam which is mostly dry up and sometimes contaminated by animal and human waste and they have to travel along Distance to get water and women and children are the most affected people.
This intervention will help solve the problem through harvesting and storing rain water to be used in dry seasons, because in raining season there is plenty water which is not being used but when it gets to the the dry seasons the dam will dry up and the community members will have to search for water and this is taking a toll on their health and survival.
Harvesting the rain water in the raining season will help reduce the suffering of this community members in the dry seasons expecially the women and children by 20% by the end of the program, It will also Improve livelihood of the people and reduce water bone disease like typhoid fever, cholera and diarrhea diseases by 20% by the end of the program.
