From a firsthand look at the manufacturing an Aller Clean Cook Stove to the installation of 45 Aller stoves in the village of Vuelta Grande. We'll take you through our teams' meeting with the village leadership to the signing of the contracts by each family. We'll highlight the installation in homes and the training that takes place after the installation is complete. All of this from the comfort of your own home. We'll post videos and have the team highlight the process throughout.
Imagine the campfire you love during the summer. Now imagine that campfire in the middle of your home. This is your source of heat and how you prepare meals. For 1.4 million Guatemalans this is their normal. Smoke from these inefficient open fires causes upper and lower respiratory issues, low birth weight and vision issues with the very young and older family members.
Hands for Peacemaking has manufactured the Aller Clean Cookstove since 2010. HFPF has installed over 5,000 stoves in homes around the Barillas area. The stoves save over 50% in wood consumption and cut meal prep time by over 40%. Dangerous pollutants are exhausted from the home through a chimney helping families breath easier.
These stove projects are providing better health, money and time savings for the family. As partners with the villages HFPF serve, we are able to ensure that acceptance and use of the stove is sustained. The families pay a very small fee for their stove. HFPF checks up with each family, monthly, for the fist six months after the installation. To date, HFPF has estimated that over 100,000 trees have been saved from cutting. This savings means over 3,000 tons of carbon sequestration.
