Hello,

Volunteer corps(VC) is sincerely grateful for your commitment to helping it sustain its mission of providing free intensive coaching and mentoring sessions to public secondary school students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

The Volunteer Corps 2019/2020 coaching session in Osun State of Nigeria commenced in October 2019 but was halted due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and the consequent closure of schools in the Country. Since the halt, schools have been unable to operate maximally. Our plans to consider online tutoring for the disadvantaged students in Osun State so that they can be at par with their counterparts in private schools was barely productive due to lack of required funding. However, the students have taken the Senior Secondary School national examination, and we believe that the tutorials offered before the lockdown impacted their performance at the examinations.

We are hopeful that schools will begin full operations, and we look forward to preparing for the 2020/2021 coaching session. Kindly remember that we still solicit your donations, and that of your network to assist the disadvantaged students in Osun state, succeed at the senior secondary schools' national examinations.

Thank you.

Hello,

Since 1992, VolunteerCorps(VC) has upheld the tradition of providing free intensive coaching and mentoring sessions to public secondary school students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. The foregoing would not have been possible without your unflinching commitment, which VC deeply appreciates.

The Volunteer Corps 2019/2020 coaching session in Osun State of Nigeria commenced in October 2019 with with over 2, 000 students and continued to record tremendous increase in the number of participating students and volunteers. However, the tutoring session was halted as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic and the consequent closure of schools in the Country.

We are hopeful that schools will re-open soon and we would be able to get back on track with the tutoring Project. However, if the closedown of schools linger, we may have to consider online tutoring to enable the indigent students in Osun State to be at par with their counterparts in private schools who already have started online learning.

You can still donate and encourage your network to make donations too in support of this Project.

Thank you.

Hello,

VolunteerCorps (VC) appreciates all that you have been doing to support its Tutoring Project in Osun State of Nigeria.

Since 1992, VC has upheld the tradition of providing free intensive coaching and mentoring sessions to public secondary school students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. This year, VC is again committed to tutoring 10,000 children for free in the State of Osun to improve the results of students of public secondary schools in Osun State.

The Volunteer Corps 2019/2020 coaching session in Osun State of Nigeria which commenced in October 2019 with about 2, 096 students, 17 volunteers and in 4 centers is still ongoing. The project has witnessed an increase in the number of participating students and volunteers. Classes are organised during the weekends, from Friday to Sunday and volunteers still tutor the students with the previous teaching materials which were bought and distributed to the various coaching centres during the previous coaching session (2018/2019 session). Although Enrolment into the 2019/2020 coaching session has been concluded, students are still encouraged to take advantage of the session to enhance their results at the national examinations.

We have not been able to meet up our targets of distributing more teaching materials to the volunteer teachers and study materials to the students, providing decent meals to the students and teachers during prolonged hours of tutoring, and the earlier scheduled trainings for Volunteer teachers, due to sparse funds.
We would appreciate your kind donations to help us achieve our targets and put smiles on the faces of indigent students in Osun state.

Please encourage your network to participate by making donations to support this cause.

Thank you.

Hello,

VolunteerCorps appreciates your unflinching support in raising the success rate of Osun State students in the national examinations so far.

The Volunteer Corps 2019/2020 coaching session in Osun State of Nigeria commenced in October 2019 and about 2, 096 students have been enrolled into the programme with about 17 volunteers in 4 centres. Preliminary enrolment procedures for the students are ongoing alongside tutoring classes which are being organised during the weekends, from Friday to Sunday. Currently, volunteers tutor the students with the previous teaching materials which were bought and distributed to the various coaching centres during the previous coaching session (2018/2019 session). These teaching materials are barely sufficient and we wish to distribute more teaching materials to the volunteer teachers and study materials to the students. We also intend to provide decent meals to the students and teachers especially on Saturdays, due to prolonged hours of tutoring.

Enrolment into the 2019/2020 coaching session is still open to more students as at the time of this report and we require funds to effectively execute this project, especially as we intend to organize trainings for Volunteer teachers in 2020. The training would not only enhance the quality of the tutoring delivered to the students, but would also encourage volunteer participation and equip the teachers for the required task.

We implore you to continue to make donations and encourage your network also to make donations to support this cause via the following link: https://www.volunteercorps.org/causes/global-giving-vc-osun

Thank you.
