Volunteer In Portland, developed by the Junior League of Portland, promotes voluntarism, develops the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
When voluntarism is not promoted and effective volunteers are not trained, non-profits suffer. Local non-profits and the Portland community benefit from the solution.
Volunteer In Portland impacts the community by supporting local non-profits through the skills and effective action of trained volunteers, as well as showing the potential that women have through civic leadership.
We will promote voluntarism through work with community partners - increasing the total numbers of volunteers working with non-profits throughout Portland. We will train over 100 women a year to become civic leaders. We will partner with other community non-profits to improve the effectiveness of their programs and provide trained volunteers to assist with development, event promotion, and other professional aspects.
