Give Voice to Child Brides

by International Center for Research on Women

Help ICRW raise awareness of child brides in countries like Ethiopia and India. Through their personal stories, we want to move the global community to end child marriage and support married girls.

Child marriage fuels the cycle of poverty, inequality and poor health that grips many countries worldwide, including Ethiopia and India. When girls - some as young as 6 - are forced to marry, they are more likely to drop out of school, die during childbirth and live in poverty. We believe girls should have the right to choose a healthier, more prosperous path. Join ICRW's effort to spotlight the lives of girls at risk of marriage and those already married. Help their voices be heard.

Using multimedia storytelling and social media to bring girls' stories from their remote villages to the global village will build awareness of child marriage, promote solutions and move the public to join a worldwide campaign to end the practice.

Long-Term Impact

By putting faces, names, hopes and fears to the statistics on child marriage, ICRW seeks to prompt people and policymakers to take steps to end it and support girls who are already married. Our research shows that traditions like child marriage can change. We aim to influence a shift in practice and policy that will let girls choose to live out their childhood, continue their studies and protect their health. Give girls that choice, that chance, and entire communities can be transformed.
