Pidola is a non-profit organization out of Colorado, and we're bringing clean, renewable energy and internet to remote and underserved communities in Bolivia. We've been working with the Ministry of Education here in Bolivia, and have two (2) schoolhouses that need energy to power their computers. Right now, their schoolchildren are forced down a technical/vocational path of education. With power to their computers, they can now learn IT, web development & other technology-based courses!
The problem in both of these communities, La Mision and San Jose de la Angosta, is that they have 10 computers waiting to be used. But neither location has the energy resources to power these computers. In La Mision alone, they've had these 10 computers sitting in one of their classrooms for five (5!) years. The children are anxious to use these computers, and learn technology-based curriculum (IT, web development, software engineering, etc).
This project will bring the power (clean & renewable!) to these computers, and so that the schoolchildren can finally start to use them. Each day that passed, these 120 kids lose out on this education, and are being left behind... not only compared to other students in Bolivia, but across the world. This project also helps the teachers in both communities with access to better teaching material, and allows for their further education as well.
This project has provided additional documentation in a PDF file (projdoc.pdf).
