It is great to be able to send you all an update with information about the young people who were sponsored to attend our Potential Discovery Course with the funds raised through the America's Giving Challenge.
Three teens, all from different states, completed the program and each reported different benefits...I am happy to let them speak with their own voice. These quotes were taken from the interviews we had with them after they completed their programs:
"I was really excited to start the Potential Discovery Course because I just finished my first year of Community College but I really did not know what I wanted to study. I am the first person in my family to graduate from high school and continue onto college, but I felt like I was letting my family down. After the Potential Discovery Course, I understand what I want to do much better. I am excited about studying to become a teacher and hope to transfer to a 4-year college at the end of next year. I also understand myself much more and what is important in my life. I understand that I am different than a lot of my friends and that's OK. It was a lot of fun - thank you Hidden Potential!" - Ron, 20, Bradenton, Florida
"My mom signed me up for the Potential Discovery Course because she heard about it in church. I wasn't sure why I was going, but after the first two weeks I started to have a lot of fun with my Potential Coach. I will be a Junior in high school next year and I think that I will apply for college. I didn't think about college before, but now I am pretty sure that I want to go. I think I want to become a computer designer. I am already good with computers and it will be a fun job to have." - Deonte, 16, Cleveland, Ohio
"I was getting into a lot of trouble at school before I started the Hidden Potential Course. I know my parents were worried, but I didn't really care. Now I know that what I do today will change my future. I want to go to college and get a good job, so I am going to keep out of trouble because if I get in more trouble it will hurt my future." - Nick, 16, Denver, Colorado
