The year 2024 was quite a difficult period for the Essential Oil Program of AIDFI and the farmers especially in Brgy. Mambugsay in Cauayan, Negros Occidental in the Philippines. After the long period of El Niño (drought) which had hit the lemongrass plants of the farmers very badly who had then had to replant most of their lemongrass areas which caused an abrupt decrease in production capacity and despite the demand for lemongrass oil was there, AIDFI could not meet this demand.
AIDFI supported the farmers from Brgy. Mambugsay during this period by providing sacks of rice to the families. Farmers from So. Ananggue, Brgy. Buenavista in Murcia, Negros Occidental in the Philippines provided lemongrass plants in solidarity with them for the replanting in Brgy. Mambugsay.
But 2024 did not end all badly, as a glimpse into 2025, AIDFI also began planting of citronella in Brgy. Mambugsay and had its first boiling in December. This is now being expanded further and hope to add citronella oil to its product line this year.
AIDFI also did volunteering works in both comunities. This shows how donations and volunteering goes a long way especially in times of need.
We look hopeful to 2025 and look forward to do great things with your donations.
