With rapidly changing technological advances, youth growing up in the Dominican Republic need additional educational and vocational training to compete in the global workplace. InnerStar provides programs that encourage young people to embrace innovation, overcome challenges & inspire others around the world. InnerStar promotes cross-cultural learning experiences that cultivate creativity, leadership & technical skills. With the proper tools, students will be able to embrace their "InnerStar".
According to 2014 data, a total of 30% of 15-24 year olds in the Dominican Republic have not completed primary education & only 16% of this population achieved post-secondary education. There are barriers in accessing quality, comprehensive learning opportunities due to lack of technology and specialized instruction. Decreased access to these tools can impede educational attainment & decrease income-earning potential. Resource constraints in the education system cannot always address these gaps.
A successful project will allow our students to: Learn the ways in which technology can transform lives around the world; participate in video conference lessons with their peers in the U.S. and Dominican; take notes during experience based education programs which will facilitate recollection & report generation; provide access to reliable Internet research capabilities; create presentations to train seniors on how to use the Internet; and prepare content for the InnerStar student blog.
InnerStar supports Dominican students through technological & skill training & by supporting the student's self-efficacy & embracing their potential to succeed. By combining training & character development, we believe our students will become leaders who will usher in new inventions & offer creative problem-solving to overcome global challenges. InnerStar has a track record of motivating youth to achieve unthinkable goals. Our program will support greater education & workforce readiness.
