Supporting Youth to be become entrepreneurs is a collective responsibility
Kitovu Mobile remains at the forefront of supporting the youth to become entrepreneurs through sustainable modern farming. During this period 62 (47M, 15F) youth from our catchment area convened in Kirumba Sub county to attend a two day training on dairy Cattle management. The training aimed at equipping the teenagers with skills and knowledge of managing dairy cows on zero grazing system as a means to enable them boost their income levels and diversifying their income generating activities.
The topics covered included among others, selection of a good dairy cow, feeding of dairy cows on zero grazing, routine management of dairy cows and making of silage.
It was noted that majority expressed interest of undertaking dairy cow as core project though were limited with resources. After a thorough assessment Kitovu Mobile was able to give out ten dairy cows to the qualifying beneficiaries. To ensure a quick multiplier effect, the first beneficiaries will be expected to pass on a heifer to another youth in the group before they can fully own the given dairy cow. Given the dairy cows given out were in calf we anticipate an average of 15 youth to have benefited from this project in a period of two years only.
We have hope that this project will benefit the youth to overcome unemployment and the rampant poverty in the community. “Let’s join hands and support the young generation to cause social change”
