The UAEM Innovation Fund project is still seeking larger institutional partners to build out our efforts. However, with your support we have been able to build some key items.
First and foremost, we held our North America conference in March 2024, where we featured leaders in innovation, such as Heather Vahdat from the Male Contraception Initiative - a group we plan to partner with moving forward. We also heard from experts like Dr. Anthony So, and researchers at Johns Hopkins University. In those discussions, we exposed students to ideas around access, affordability, and innovation that will be the cornerstones of this fund's work as we move into the future.
This fall, UAEM plans to have its first innovation fellow, and is working on the details to bring them on board. This fellow will be part-time and focus some of their work from research and legal scholarship on creating access policies that align with our vision, and on engaging others in the legal and academic research arenas.
Their goals will include:
- Presenting at major national conferences on access and innovation.
- Building a pledge on racial equity in research practice.
- Creating new materials to reach student researchers all over the U.S. and canada on these critical issues.
Your support means the world to us, and is helping us build the environment we'd like to see. Envision that environment with us, by watching the Innovation Without Borders panel linked in this report.
