Challenge

Political strife and restricted movement have led to poverty, isolation and violence in Nablus, particularly for its 50,000+ refugees and 60% of residents under 25. The city has been cut off from the rest of the West Bank and the world, resulting in a lack of hope or inspiration for the future. TYO offers these marginalized young people positive alternatives that foster creativity, life skills and hope. American volunteers build bridges between populations who would otherwise never meet.

Solution

American and Palestinian volunteers design and implement creative curricula for 10 weeks, providing 100+ hours of programming to 50+ children; document participants' learning and development; and experience valuable intercultural cooperation.

Long-Term Impact

TYO is a hub for community change and international connection in underserved Middle Eastern cities. By engaging strategic groups (young children, university students and mothers), TYO facilitates sustainable transformation and international bridges.
