Spring Updates from Tutorpedia Foundation!

By C. Nikole Saulsberry | Development & Communications Manager

Thank you again for your interest in, and support of, Tutorpedia Foundation. After five years, we have grown from serving five students with three tutors to an enrollment of 416 students with 34 tutors. We would not be where we are today without our Community of Learners and generous people like you.

With each new student we enroll we become one step closer to creating a world in which all students – regardless of socioeconomic status – will graduate high school with a lifelong love of learning, and the necessary credentials, skills, and drive to succeed in higher education and pursue careers of their choice. Our students are, quite simply, amazing youth with whom we are proud to be working!

In the fall, our Program Director, Elizabeth Doyle (Liz) had the pleasure of working with Judy C. at Huckleberry Wellness Academy. Judy came to her tutoring sessions at the beginning of the year quiet and timid about her math skills.

“When we first started working together I noticed Jenny didn't know how to prepare optimally for a timed exam. She understood a lot of the material but hadn't mastered it enough to complete problems under time pressure and not make mistakes.”

Because of this, Liz focused on helping Judy build a personalized study plan that gives her the additional practice she needs and emphasizes the skills she's already mastered. At the end of the fall semester, Judy received her first A in math and now has the confidence to ask for further clarification on problems she doesn't understand. Your support of Tutorpedia Foundation provides more than just homework help it gives students the tools and skills they need to achieve their academic goals and advocate for themselves.

This semester, we will continue to do our part in making education personal for under-resourced students. Whether it means providing tutoring for more than 400 students in need, or by training staff of youth-development organizations to be excellent academic mentors through our Tutor Training Institute. In just one semester, teachers are already calling to commend our tutors.

"Many thanks for your tutors' diligence, I can see the results of your work with my students. We share the same goal, and your support is invaluable! There are many more students who would benefit from your program," shared Linda Pantoskey, a 6th-grade math teacher, at Davidson Middle School.

Thank you again for being part of our Community of Learners!
