Help us provide or repair solar panels to Syrian families after the earthquake! 2/3 hours of electricity a day. Public electricity is enough for 4 lightbulbs, or 1 lightbulb and a fridge, to work for, just two hours. Then lights turn off in Syria and those who cannot afford fuel for power generators live in the dark. Pro Terra Sancta has already assisted around 1.000 families providing the minimum amount of energy to survive. The solar panel project is a new sustainable long term solution.
After 11 years of war 90% of Syrian people live below poverty line. With a high unemployment rate and strong inflation people can barely afford to buy food. In addition the Syrian government can only assure 2/3 hours of electricity a day and those who cannot buy fuel for power generators live in the dark. The situation is getting even worse due to political instability linked to the Ukrainian conflict. With no light families cannot live normally and the Country is blocked.
To respond to the energy and food crisis Pro Terra Sancta initially distributed food parcels and fuel to provide electricity and hot water through power generators. Recently we began to think and implement sustainable projects that could guarantee a new prospect for the future. This is why we want to provide solar panels for the families in Aleppo, to ensure electricity and hot water, when there is no national electricity supply. The cost for one installation is around 2.000 USD.
The solar panel project is a powerful answer to the energy crisis in Syria with a great long-term, sustainable and ecological value. It would grant power continuative supply and hot water to families, that would not depend on the political instability. Furthermore it would help in reducing pollution produced by power generators. Through this campaign we will start by providing solar panels to more than 100 families.
