The Trey Foote Foundation is making nice progress towards it's goal of raising $5000 for scholarships. We have partnered with Clark County Fair and had a booth for a day at the fair. The foundation and our scholarship and education programs received much needed visibility and community support. We spoke to over 1000 people about childhood cancer, cancer research and our scholarship programs and heard many touching stories about individuals and their battles with cancer. We also heard how our foundation and Trey’s personal battle has helped inspire people battling cancer. We raised $500 at this event but more importantly we gave hope to those fighting cancer. Pictures from the Clark Country Fair can be viewed on the foundation website. http://treyfootefoundation.com/epic_photo/epic_photo.htm
We have another fundraising event where three individuals will embark on an adventure to Ecuador. They will scale the peaks of two amazing volcanoes. The first is Cotopaxi, a perfectly symmetrical, active natural wonder reaching nearly 20,000 ft. The second is Chimborazo, Ecuador’s highest point at 20,565 ft (6,268m). Chimborazo’s claim to fame is that due to its position right on the equator’s bulge, its peak is the farthest point from the centre of the earth and therefore the earth’s nearest point to the sun. Of course they will have their “Trey” shirts.
Our research project has made some progress as well. We have a new researcher at Doernbechers Childrens that is very interested in assisting the foundation with our research project.
