This project is in response to our Crisis Intervention programs; SCARS TO STARS on TV and Radio, as well as LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL Conferences that create awareness on Depression and other Mental Health issues, by setting up a Transformation Centre that will counsel at least 5,000 people yearly, research into local Causal Factors and tackle Depression thereby Curbing rising Suicides incidence, Health and Family Breakdown, Low Productivity, Violent Crimes, Threat to Communities in Nigeria.
The incidences of Suicides in Nigeria has increased due to Economic difficulties, Cultism, Failed Relationships, Education Crises, Spirituality, and Family Breakdowns, and our weekly TV and Radio programs are inadequate to address the increasing number of people that show up for counseling. The Transformation Centre will provide counseling Units with Volunteer Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Counselors and an 8 bed facility to assist acutely depressed people with recovery programs and follow up.
We accept troubled members of the public who come to us for Counseling, and help them build resilience to cope with the challenge. We provide hot beverage and a bed for close observation where necessary, we also refer to proper medical facilities when the case requires medical attention .We have a Mini Skill Acquisition centre to provide economic empowerment for the unemployed. Partner companies have also accepted to give back to the society, by offering free training on referral.
The rate of Depression and suicide cases will greatly reduce with the launching of our Transformation Centre. Currently, there are none in the South South/South East comprising of 10 States in Nigeria. The long term impact is a peaceful society, stronger family bond, and transformed individuals. This project will also reduce cases of unemployment and poverty in the society as a whole. With greater awareness and intervention in Mental Health, stigmatization against the Depressed will also reduce.
