YVC plans to transform the lives of 75 teens through interactive workshops, helping them to realize their personal worth, build positive values, breakthrough barriers and move towards a bright future. Through the safe and supportive environment of the Power of Peace workshops, teens will move beyond their history and become positive, contributing members of their schools, communities and families.
Adolescence is a turbulent time for youth during which they begin to make increasingly independent decisions that have the potential to impact the rest of their lives. They often feel confused, alone, and vulnerable, leading to negative social stereotypes of themselves and others. Youth dealing with the normal difficulties of adolescence and the added challenges of their environment benefit tremendously from positive youth development as can be offered through this project.
Through our Power of Peace program and our passionate and committed leadership, we address the challenges that young people face every day, inside and outside of the classroom and provide a safe place for them to voice their fears and concerns. A variety of experiential workshop activities are used to promote conflict management, leadership, teamwork and collaboration, decision making, respect for others and self, and diversity.
The project will provide 75 youth with the tools, skills and experiences to take charge of their lives and education and forge bright futures, changing the lives of future generations as well. We will help them to realize their personal self-worth and values so that each makes positive contributions to society.
