This project covers the school tuition, uniforms, transportation, and books/supplies for 20 motivated teenaged students who were born into poverty in rural Guatemala. Our scholarships make it possible for these young adults to break cultural and economic barriers in their communities, and transform into vibrant, confident, and educated leaders who achieve professional careers that move their families and villages out of poverty into self-sufficient models for change.
We are unlocking potential and battling hopelessness among vibrant teenagers who want to do more for their communities. Children born without means become adults without means. Too many adults without direction or hope create communities that languish.
This project provides opportunity to 20 teenagers who WANT professional careers but lack the means to pursue them. Completing their high school education levels the playing field for children who often must drop out of school at age 12 to sell candy, shine shoes, or work as maids in order to contribute to family expenses. Our program has worked since 2007.
Graduation from high school will leverage these children's intellectual potential and position them for professional careers. By securing a higher income for themselves, they will contribute in greater significance to their families' and communities' livelihoods. These young leaders serve as models for success among younger children in the communities.
