Forest guards continue to protect the land

EcoLogic is working with local a coalition known as the Northern Border Municipalities Alliance (MFN) in northern Guatemala.   Together, EcoLogic and MFN have organized the protection and conservation of 85 hectares under active community involvement. Specifically, 30 volunteer guards from the area have been trained to patrol their forest and lead their community in land protection.

“I understand the importance of the protection and conservation of natural resources, like others, every day we are more concerned about the situation of the environment,” said Don José Salvador Toc when asked why he signed up to be a forest guard.

The local people who make up the MFN are striving to protect and restore more of their forest so that their lives, homes, and water sources will no longer be threatened.
